Laptops today have many different features that they specialize in.  If you are looking for good gaming laptops, you are not going to look for the same qualities that you would in a laptop that was to be used primarily for schoolwork.  Some of the main features that you will need are a fast processor and a lot of memory to allow you to rip through the game.

Alienware has long been known to produce laptops for gaming.  Somehow they manage to put machines together that have exactly the right components for gaming while not really sacrificing quality anywhere else.  One such machine that is in a price range that anyone can afford is the Alienware Area-51 M15x.

This gaming laptop notebook is typically available for under $1,200.  While it is not exactly cheap, it is in line with just about every other laptop that is worth taking home, regardless of its specialty.  What sets this machine apart is the 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme X9000 and the 4GB RAM that comes stock on the machine.  This means fast and furious action will not be a problem.

When you compare that to the 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 that you find on the Sony VAIO NW180J/S, you can understand why most gamers will be more than willing to put out the extra $200 or so.  The gaming speed is not even close when you put these two machines side by side, but the Sony is still nothing to sneeze at.

It offers the same 4GB of RAM that the Alienware machine offers and is slightly lighter than the Alien.  If you like to take your games on the go, this is something that you may want to seriously look at.  Lugging that extra pound around all day can take its toll on you.  The Sony also offers excellent viewing and Blu-ray playback that you cannot find on many machines in this price range.

While the Sony is definitely inferior to the Alienware machine, it is head and shoulders above the rest of the competition.  If you hunt around enough, you can probably find this machine for under $1,000 and that is a price range that the Alienware will rarely if ever be found at.  That price difference can be enough to sway even the most dedicated gamer.

Once you go away from these two laptops for gaming, the quality declines significantly.  Most decent machines will still be featured in this price range, but very few of them can offer the same quality that you will find in both of these.  You may see a quicker processor, but the rest of the pieces are not in place to deliver the same overall experience.

Good gaming laptops are hard to come by, but both Alienware and Sony have set themselves apart in this market.  You will be hard pressed to find better machines under $1,200 than you will experience with either of these.  You can save a few bucks with the Sony or put out the money and get as close to perfection as possible with the Alienware. Either way, you will get a gaming experience that is sure to satisfy.

With the popularity of online gaming, good gaming laptops are something that is in high demand.  The specs that people look for are not necessarily what someone who does not play games online or with their laptop seek.  If you plan on using your laptop for gaming, you are going to need to know what to look for.

The first thing that you are going to need is a fast processor.  Memory is also going to be very important for gaming.  Both of these elements go hand in hand and if you have one but not the other, your machine may not give you the gaming experience that you seek.

For best results, you will need a processor of at least 2GHz Intel Core.  In addition to that, you are also going to need at least 4GB RAM.  While you will want a hard drive with large storage capabilities, it is not necessary for a good gaming experience.  The reality of it is that you can pick up an external drive later on, but the games specifically need these two elements to run properly and ensure that you are able to play the games to their fullest.

Another feature that you want to look for in the best gaming laptops is screen size.  Anything less than 15.4 inches is a complete waste of time.  In order to get the full affect, you will want to see as much of the game view as is possible and smaller screens make for difficult viewing.  You can of course adjust the resolution on the smaller models, but it is just not the same as seeing the games on larger screens.

Something that you are going to have to deal with is a laptop that is a little heavier.  Laptops for gaming tend to be on the heavy side and you are hard pressed to find one that is under 7 pounds.  If they are, they often lack the components that are necessary for a quality gaming experience.  This weight is something that is not often a problem for most gamers, but something that you should be aware of none the less.

One feature that is of the utmost importance is going to be the graphics that are installed in the computer.  Nvidia GeForce GTX 280M is what you will find on the most highly rated laptops for gaming, but you will pay for that.  Nvidia has other less expensive options that are extremely good and much more affordable.  Do your homework in this area as you can have a machine that has everything else, but skimps in this area, and your gaming will not be nearly as good as you would like it to be.

Finding good gaming laptops will have you searching for machines that are much different from the standard laptop.  You can expect to pay a little more than the stock laptop that you will find both online and in storefronts.  However, what you will get is a gaming laptop notebook that will far exceed the gaming experience that you would otherwise get.  You will find that those couple extra hundred is money well spent.

If you are an avid gamer, you probably hate the fact that you cannot play your games when you are away from your desktop. With the advances that have been made in notebooks, good gaming laptops are becoming more and more sought after.  While the best of machines will run you a little over $1,000, there are still plenty of them on the market that will do the job for under $1,000.

Asus is a name that has been thrown to the forefront in recent months, especially with the popularity of netbooks.  While they were once considered the bottom of the barrel, they have been able to steadily upgrade their machines and now offer a very nice line of discount laptops for gaming.  As long as you are not expecting a machine that will sit side by side with an Alienware computer, you will be pleasantly surprised at what you find.

Asus currently offers two laptops for gaming that are actually both under $500.  The Asus K50IJ-RX05 and the Asus Eee PC 1005HA are both very respectable machines that will deliver a quality gaming experience.  The K50IJ has a better processor and more memory and for the extra $80 or so, it is well worth the price.  It is also much lighter than most standard gaming laptops.

If you insist on using a name brand, Dell Studio has a complete line that is very affordable.  The Dell Studio 15 Laptop Computer features an Intel Core Duo P8600 processor and 320 GB of HDD and 4GB of memory.  That is quite a punch for $799.  This machine is readily available, but paying double the price is a lot to ask for when you are getting virtually the same machine in the Asus K50IJ.  However, you do have the Dell name standing behind it.

A computer that you can find for under $700 is the Toshiba Satellite A505-S6960.  This is turning some heads and it is easy to figure out when you see that it has a 2.1 GHz processor and 4GB memory.  It is fairly light at 6.4 pounds and is significantly cheaper than most name brand models with the same features.  Toshiba’s sometimes get knocked for blacking out after prolonged usage and if you are used to playing for hours at a time, this is something that you may want to consider.

If you are not stuck on full sized laptops for gaming, you can save significant money by going with a netbook.  A lot of these mini’s offer most of the same features that the full sized models have at a significant disount.  For instance, you can find a great Dell mini at under $300 and an Asus in the low $200’s.  This is quite a discount for the smaller viewing area.

Gamers now have plenty of options when looking for good gaming laptops.  Technology continues to improve and prices continue to fall.  Look at the types of games that you play and what is necessary for a quality gaming experience and you should be able to walk away with a gaming laptop that will not disappoint for well under $1,000.

It is no secret that gamers like portability to be able to play their games regardless of their location.  The problem with this is that a lot of good gaming laptops are bulky and heavy and not exactly the thing that you want thrown over your shoulder all of the time.  That being the case, they are looking for other options to pursue that will allow them to keep the portability without suffering through the awkwardness of the typical laptop.

Over the last few months, mini-laptops or netbooks have become very popular.  They are often less than half the weight of a typical notebook and extremely portable.  Instead of having a large laptop case and backpack, you can easily fit one of these units into the backpack and reduce your load significantly.  The challenge is to find one that is as adept at gaming as the full size laptops.

The first significant difference that you are going to see is the size of the viewing screen.  While you can obviously change the resolution to have the same amount of screen showing, the images will often be too small to actually see.  Now if you are used to playing on portable units such as the PSP, this will not be such a challenge for you.

One area that will take a small hit is the processor.  Most netbooks will have a processor that has less than 2GHz.  With the features that are in a lot of games, this may not be enough to get the full gaming experience on the go.  It is something that you will want to seriously consider.  You will also be stretched to find one that has the memory of a good gaming laptop.  This means slower movements and a less than acceptable gaming experience for most.

The alternative is to find the best gaming laptops that are less expensive and do not weigh as much as say the top of the line Alienware gaming laptop.  As long as you don’t mind sacrificing a little bit, this can easily be achieved.  As a matter of fact, you can find plenty of laptops for gaming that are priced under $700 that offer plenty of memory and speed to satisfy the average gamer.

You have to remember, netbooks are meant for mostly the convenience of portability.  They are something to stay in touch with on the go and not have to worry about carrying a bulky laptop case and accessories.  As long as you keep that in perspective, you can use them for gaming, but do not expect the same top level performance that you will get from full sized laptop.

In the end, we would probably have to vote no for minis as a good gaming laptop.  The features are not nearly what the avid gamer will expect, but they are useful in a pinch.  After all, you may not have the option of taking your regular laptop with you and if you want to satisfy that urge, use  your netbook, but keep the expectations lower and do not get frustrated with the lack of viewing area and speed.

Shopping around for good gaming laptops can be quite the chore as you are not necessarily looking for the same component set that you would be if you were seeking a laptop that you would use strictly for school or office work.  That being the case, you are going to need to find something that is lightening fast with high end components that will not wear down with the constant usage.

While it will definitely cost you quite a bit more than anything else on the market, the Alienware M17x laptop is easily one of the best gaming laptops on the market today.  Priced at a little over $4,000, gamers may have to save their pennies, but the end result is well worth the price if gaming is the main driving force behind your purchase.

Alienware has long been known as one of the top producers of gaming laptops, but they have definitely outdone themselves with this model.  In addition to all of the standard features that are common in an Alienware laptop, this one is loaded with extra ports for just about any connectivity that you can imagine. There is no longer the need for spiders or towers for extra USB ports.  You should be able to attach everything that you need directly to the computer and avoid the lag or disconnect that sometimes happens when you use those other devices.

If there is a drawback to this computer it would be battery life and weight.  Battery life is typical of a machine that often boasts of 4-6 hours and then disappoints with only an hour or two.  While this is an issue you face with most laptops, it does not make it any less disappointing to have to deal with when you are in the middle of a gaming session.  The computer is also a little heavy, but that is to be expected with the components that it features.  This is not a netbook by any means, but a tricked out machine that will give you the gaming experience of a lifetime.

While the price may be a little steep, in gaming, you get what you pay for.  If you want to find good gaming laptops, you need look no further than Alienware.  If the price tag on this machine is a little too steep for you, try one of the many other models that they offer.  You may not get the same experience, but it will be one that will not disappoint.
